Why do marquees make such great wedding venues?

When people start planning their wedding, one of the first things they think about is where to have it. A lot of people have been to weddings at hotels but some miss the point that a marquee makes a great wedding venue.

Of course you might not have the space in your own garden to put a marquee up, but many venues will do this for you and create a self-contained, personal space. It doesn’t have to be at a hotel, often vineyards or campsites, or country estates will provide a space for a marquee.

One of the reasons we think marquees make great wedding venues if that there are so many different kinds of marquees that you can choose from to suit your style and your vision.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that a wedding marquee is a huge, white plastic tent with silky drapes inside and metal poles. Those are traditional metal-pole style marquees but there are also wooden-framed Sailcloth marquees that have peaked roofs that remind people of sailing ships. The wooden frames really soften the whole place and add a beautiful feature. We think they are absolutely stunning and they often don’t need to be decorated apart from fairly lights. Don’t forget with all your guests inside, with all their colourful clothing and all the table decorations, your marquee is going to be FULL of colour and detail.

Stretch tents are a simpler kind of marquee that are ideal as a canopy in the summer months. Stretch tents don’t have sides so don’t suit bad weather, but in good weather they are beautiful structures that create a perfect venue space for a wedding.

Then there are Tipis that create a unique venue to have a wedding. Tipis or Teepees as some spell it, can be as single tipi or multiple tipis joined together to create huge spaces.  We’ve joined eight tipis together before – that was the largest space that we’ve created. The tipis have wooden-pole frames and when you join them together you create designated spaces for dining, dancing, chilling out and the bar.  Tipis are really great as a unique wedding venue option and there is something special about the vibe they create that ALWAYS makes for a fun event. Perhaps it’s the bohemian feeling they create that makes people relax and let their hair down.

During the summer when you hit your 30s, it feels there is a wedding almost every weekend. Everyone is hoping to create something different to a wedding they have been to before. Making something feel unique and standout is not easy. However, we think having a statement marquee as a wedding venue really hits the mark.

We work with a lot of venues where we can put our marquees up. You’ll find them on our recommended suppliers list on our website. These venues will help you arrange everything else for your wedding and between them and us, we’ll know great caterers, entertainers, DJ and even honeymoon experts.

If you want to discuss why a marquee could be a great wedding venue for you and where we recommend you put it, get in touch.
